Christian, Beware

Cyprian | September 26

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place. —Jeremiah 50:6

“Whoever gathers from a different source scatters. Run far away from the contagiousness of such people.”

The Faithless Shepherd: Brueghel the Younger

The Lord cries out, “Hearken not unto the words of the false prophets, for the visions of their own hearts deceive them. They speak, but not out of the mouth of the Lord. They say to them that despise the word of the Lord, Ye shall have peace.” Those who don’t have peace themselves are offering peace. Those who have departed from the church are promising to bring backsliders back into the church. There is one God, and Christ is one. There is one church and one chair founded upon the rock by the word of the Lord. Except for the one altar and the one priesthood, another altar can’t be established nor a new priesthood made. Whoever gathers from a different source scatters…. Run far away from the contagiousness of such people. Flee from their words and avoid them like a cancer or a plague. The Lord warns you, “They are blind leaders of the blind. But if the blind lead the blind, they shall both fall into the ditch.” …Beloved, don’t let anyone turn from the ways of the Lord. Christians, don’t let anyone snatch you from the Gospel of Christ. Don’t let anyone take the church’s children away from the church. But let those who want to perish, perish alone.
